IMPORTANT NOTICE: By placing an order with J.K Security Doors Ltd, the client confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to the warranty terms and conditions outlined below. This warranty applies to products installed within the United Kingdom.
1. STEEL STRUCTURE (Door frame, door leaf & hinges)
1.1 External steel security doors supplied by J.K Security Doors Ltd are covered by a 10-year warranty on the steel structure, including the door frame, door leaf, and hinges, against manufacturing defects.
1.2 Internal steel security doors are covered by a 10-year steel structure warranty for the door frame, door leaf, and hinges.
1.3 Steel components are covered by a 3-year anti-corrosion warranty, provided that the metal parts are not physically damaged, the door is protected from direct and prolonged exposure to adverse weather conditions, and the installation area is free from rising damp, mould, or persistent moisture.
1.4 Maintenance requirement: Hinges and moving steel components must be lubricated at least once per year using WD-40 or an equivalent heavier oil. Prior to lubrication, the door must be lifted by approximately 5 mm to allow access to the hinge bearings. This maintenance service is not included and may be quoted separately by a J.K Security Doors Ltd sales manager upon request. Failure to carry out routine maintenance may invalidate this warranty.
1.5 Exclusions: This warranty does not cover cosmetic wear, surface marks, damage caused by misuse, negligence, impact, unauthorised alterations, or issues resulting from building movement or structural settlement.
2. EXTERNAL DOOR PANELS
2.1 External door panels (flat, modern, traditional, and ornate designs manufactured from Tricoya, okoume, timber, or equivalent materials) are covered by a 2-year warranty against cracking and paint peeling, provided the door is correctly installed, routinely maintained, and suitably protected from weather exposure.
2.2 Doors installed without adequate overhead protection (such as a canopy, porch, or recessed opening) are covered by a reduced 18-month paint finish warranty. Solid oak and okoume timber panels are excluded from this reduced warranty.
2.3 Minor paint imperfections not visible from a distance of 2 metres are considered acceptable and do not constitute a defect.
2.4 No warranty is provided for external door panels on outward-opening doors where full protection from direct weather exposure is not present.
2.5 Flat external door panels are covered by a 10-year warranty against twisting or splitting. This warranty excludes paint layers, primers, and surface finishes.
2.6 Traditional, ornate, and moulded panel designs (including Victorian, Georgian, Edwardian, and 1930s styles) may experience natural movement. Dark colours, particularly black or high-gloss finishes, are not covered against micro-cracking along moulding edges or mitre joints.
2.7 Timber and timber-based materials are natural products and may experience dimensional movement within recognised British Standards. Such movement does not constitute a defect. Paint finishes on traditional or ornate moulded panels are excluded from the warranty.
2.8 Building movement notice: All buildings, whether new or existing, are subject to natural structural movement including settlement, shrinkage, thermal expansion, or minor subsidence. Such movement may result in doors dropping, sticking, or becoming misaligned. These effects are due to building movement and are not attributable to a defect in the door or installation and are therefore not covered under this guarantee.
2.9 Damage to external decorative panels caused by weathering or vandalism does not affect the internal steel structure, locking mechanisms, or security performance of the door.
2.10 Any issues relating to the door must be reported to J.K Security Doors Ltd within five (5) working days from the date the issue first arises. Failure to notify within this period may result in a standard chargeable call-out fee.
3. LOCKS, CYLINDERS & MECHANICAL COMPONENTS
3.1 Multipoint locking systems supplied by J.K Security Doors Ltd are covered by a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, subject to correct use and annual lubrication.
3.2 Lock cylinders are covered by a 1-year warranty. For commercial or communal entrance doors, coverage is limited to 6 months.
3.3 Electronic and electrical components including keypads, fingerprint scanners, remote receivers, electric latches, and frame plates are covered by a 1-year warranty, provided there is no visible damage or evidence of misuse.
3.4 Door closers are covered by a 1-year warranty, or 6 months where fitted to commercial or communal entrances. Scheduled maintenance at 6-month intervals is required.
3.5 The warranty does not cover faults caused by dust, debris, contamination following building works, incorrect operation, excessive force, or lack of maintenance.
4. GLAZING
4.1 Laminated security glass units are covered by a 10-year warranty, with 5 years airtightness, provided there is no visible damage or evidence of forced entry.
4.2 Minor imperfections within accepted industry tolerances, including small marks or blemishes up to 2 mm, are permitted.
4.3 Decorative features such as Georgian bars, lead detailing, MDF bars, or stained-glass effects are fitted to the surface of a single glass panel. Internal silicone seals may remain visible.
4.4 Glass units are assessed in accordance with Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) standards. Only defects falling outside these standards qualify for replacement.
4.5 Seals and silicone around glazing may require renewal if gaskets are removed, damaged, or disturbed. Such maintenance is not covered under warranty.
5. HARDWARE WARRANTY
(Letter plates, centre knobs, door knockers, lever handles & bar handles)
5.1 Standard hardware items, including letter plates, centre door knobs, door knockers, lever handles, and bar handles, are supplied by default to match the selected lock casing and door specification. Finishes may vary slightly depending on supplier and batch.
5.2 Where a specific finish, design, or hardware specification is required, full details must be confirmed in writing by email and/or the hardware must be supplied by the client before the order is confirmed. Requests made after order confirmation may not be accommodated.
5.3 All hardware items are hand-finished products. Minor surface variations or small imperfections may occur and are considered normal and do not constitute a defect.
5.4 Any significant damage, finish defects, or missing hardware components must be identified and reported to J.K Security Doors Ltd on the installation date.
5.5 Hardware issues not reported on the installation date will be deemed accepted, and no warranty claims relating to hardware condition will be accepted after installation.
5.6 This warranty covers manufacturing defects only and does not apply to damage occurring after installation, normal wear and tear, or improper use.
6. GENERAL CONDITIONS
6.1 All moving components, including hinges and locks, must be lubricated at least once per year. In dusty, coastal, or extreme environments, maintenance frequency must be increased.
6.2 Cosmetic wear and tear, scratches, stains, surface marks, misuse, negligence, unauthorised alterations, and issues caused by building movement or debris after building works are excluded from this warranty.
6.3 Nothing in these warranty terms affects the client’s statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law.
